Jacksonville Jaguars must address these 4 position groups in 2021
The Jacksonville Jaguars will have plenty of work in the offseason.
If you look at the 2020 Jacksonville Jaguars roster, you will find some talented players, but not a lot. There are a few young players, such as running back James Robinson and wide receiver D.J. Chark Jr, that should be part of the team’s long-term plans. Nevertheless, most of their units need a facelift.
We don’t know how the Jaguars’ quarterback situation will look in 2021 and the defense needs an infusion of playmakers at all levels. The defensive line has been pushed around, their linebacker corps is susceptible to play-action plays and their secondary has allowed plenty of big plays in 2020.
While the ‘Jags’ still have to play eight games this season, the team’s brass should be planning what they will do in the offseason to improve their roster. Keep in mind that the organization could make a head coach (and possibly a general manager) switch so the current regime won’t be overseeing a potential turnaround.
On the bright side, whoever ends up in charge in 2021 will have plenty of resources at their disposal. This Jacksonville team is set to have $83.99 million in cap space and 10 draft selection and four of those picks are in the top 45.
Keep in mind that the Jaguars need to use those assets correctly. It doesn’t matter how much cap space or how many draft picks they will have if they don’t use them correctly, something this organization hasn’t done in recent years.
On the bright side, there are many paths the ‘Jags’ can take to turn the team’s fortunes around. Regardless of the route they take, they must address these four position groups.
