4 players Jacksonville Jaguars could’ve had instead of Laviska Shenault

The Jacksonville Jaguars had their fair share of choices in 2020’s draft.

When it comes to the Jacksonville Jaguars draft track record, it’s easier to highlight their misses than their hits. Ever since David Caldwell became the team’s general manager in 2013, their success at selecting high-impact players has been spotty.

None of the Jaguars’ first-round picks from 2013 to 2017 remain on the roster and their 2018 selection, defensive tackle Taven Bryan, has progressively gotten less playing time due to his lack of impact on the football field.

Edge defender Josh Allen, whom the team drafted in 2019, maybe the exception to the rule, as he had a superb rookie year and has been solid in 2020 despite the fact he has been dealing with a knee injury.

The Jaguars’ brass has fared better in the second round though. In the last five years, they have drafted linebacker Myles Jack, left tackle Cam Robinson, wide receiver D.J. Chark, and right tackle Jawaan Taylor. This year, they used their second-round selection on wide receiver Laviska Shenault Jr. selection, who has been solid but is currently dealing with a hamstring injury.

While Shenault’s injury is not serious and should be back soon, we wonder if the Colorado standout was the best players the ‘Jags’ could’ve taken with 2020’s 42nd overall pick. After all, this draft class was loaded with wide receiver talent, so they might’ve had a chance to get another impact player or an even better wideout than him.

How about we look at some of the players this Jacksonville could’ve gotten instead of Shenault? There were some interesting choices in retrospect.
