We have had two weeks to examine the Jacksonville Jaguars upcoming Week 9 game against the Houston Texans. Both squads are coming off their Bye Week and with identical 1-6 records. After looking at how they match up against each other, we think the ‘Jags’ will come out of the contest with their second win of the season.

However, that’s not the only prediction we are making here at B&T. We think the Jaguars rookies and a player that joined the team once the 2020 season had already started are going to play important roles in the Jaguars victory, so let’s take a look at three things that are going to happen in Week 9.

Here are three bold predictions for the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 9.

1. Running back James Robinson will have his third 100-yard game of the season.

As good as rookie James Robinson has been in Jacksonville, he’s only amassed more than 100 rushing yards twice in 2020. He did it first against the Tennessee Titans when he racked up 16 carries for 102 yards. His second 100-yard game came against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 7.

In that game, the Illinois State standout had 22 carries for 119 yards and his fourth rushing touchdown on the year. The Texans run offense is currently ranked 31st in the league and is allowing 165  yards per game. Robinson should have no problem surpassing the 100-yard mark for the third time this season.

2. Defensive tackle DaVon Hamilton will have his first sack of the year.

Rookie defensive tackle DaVon Hamilton dominated the line of scrimmage against the Chargers. He finished with game with eight total tackles. Even though he was just making his second start even, he was arguably the best player in the Jaguars defensive line.

As dominant as Hamilton was against the ‘Bolts’, he didn’t have a sack. In fact, he’s waiting to register his first quarterback takedown in the NFL. If he keeps playing the way he did in Week 7, he should have no problems getting to Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson and getting a sack.

3. Sidney Jones gets his second interception as a member of the Jaguars.

Cornerback Sidney Jones may be the ‘Jags’ most intriguing on Sunday. After failing to make an impact with the Philadelphia Eagles and moving to Jacksonville, the Washington standout has quickly entrenched himself as a key member of the team’s secondary.

Next. Jaguars vs Texans: 3 matchups to keep an eye on. dark

Jones has started the Jaguars last three games but had to leave the last one with a rib injury. Even though he was limited by the same injury during the week ahead of the game against the Texans, he will play an essential role in the team’s second win of the season, and while doing so, he will record his second interception of the year.
