The Jacksonville Jaguars will have two core defenders back against the Texans.

After missing his second game of the year, linebacker Myles Jack returns to the Jacksonville Jaguars lineup. The fifth-year veteran isn’t the only player the defense is getting back for the team’s Week 9 matchup against the Houston Texans, safety Jarrod Wilson will suit up too after missing the team’s contest against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 7. Here’s the full inactive list:

Jack’s and Wilson’s return don’t come as a surprise though. Head coach Doug Marrone told the local media in a sitdown that both defenders and tight end Tyler Eifert would play against the Texans. He was true to his word and we will see the trio taking the field against the Texans.

On the other hand, it was less certain whether linebacker Joe Giles-Harris and Josh Nurse would be active after being elevated from the team’s practice squad to the active roster. The same was true for guard A.J. Cann, center Brandon Linder, and left tackle Cam Robinson.

Cann missed last week’s game and Linder missed the team’s Week 3 matchup against the Miami Dolphins. Robinson has played and started in every single game this season, and he won’t see his streak end against the Texans.

The Jacksonville Jacksonville Jaguars needed to be at full strength.

Against the Texans, the Jaguars had to be as close as full strength as possible. Quarterback Garner Minshew II is out with a thumb injury for an indefinite amount of time and rookie Jake Luton will make his first start at the pro level. Although the Oregon State standout showed promise in training camp, we don’t know how he’s going to fare against an NFL defense.

For that reason, Luton is going to need as much help as possible. Having the offensive line at full strength is certainly reassuring, and so is having a relatively healthy defense. If the Jaguars don’t turn the ball over and make some stops, they will have a chance to win their second game of the year. They have the players, they now have to execute.
