The Jacksonville Jaguars have a tough road ahead.

This hasn’t been an easy year for the Jacksonville Jaguars. After beating the Indianapolis Colts in the season opener, things took an ugly turn for them, and have dropped six straight games. That’s not the kind of formula that will help teams qualify to the playoffs.

Although a playoff berth currently looks out of reach, the season isn’t over yet. There is still plenty of football left in the calendar and the ‘Jags’ still have to take the field for nine more games. Projecting that they will have two wins after taking care of the Houston Texans, they will head into Week 10 with a 2-6 record.

Those that hope the Jaguars tank and pick early in 2021’s draft may be disappointed to learn that the team won’t do such thing. It’s true that quarterback Gardner Minshew II is out for an indefinite amount of time and it’s equally true that before the season started, the team parted way with two of their two best defensive players in 2019, Calais Campbell and Yannick Ngakoue.

However, if the Jaguars really wanted to tank, they wouldn’t have given rookie Jake Luton the starting nod once they learned Minshew wouldn’t be able to suit up. Instead, they would’ve handed the key to the offense to veteran Mike Glennon, who was a spotty track record as a quarterback.

While a playoff spot may not be feasible at the moment (and may not be in 2020), the Jaguars could finish the season strong, so let’s take a look at how things could unfold once they take care of business and beat Houston in Week 9.
