The Jacksonville Jaguars have one of the worst defenses in the league.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are having an unsuccessful and uneventful season. They are coming out of the bye week at 1-6 and issues on both sides of the ball. Right now the defense has given up the sixth-most total yards in the NFL. While they may not be going in the direction they had hoped for, they still have some pretty good players on defense.

Myles Jack

Myles Jack has been an important part of the Jaguars defense since he was drafted in the second round in 2016. He’s been dealing with an ankle injury since week 4 that has caused him to miss their week 7 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers. Head coach Doug Marrone has said he expects Jack to be ready to take on the Houston Texans this week.

So far out of five games, Jack has 41 combined tackles, one interception, two tackles for loss, and two quarterback hits.

It would be nice to see Jack get back in action but there’s no reason to risk further injury on any of their top players if the Jaguars aren’t going to take the rest of the season seriously.

Josh Allen

Josh Allen was an exciting addition for Jacksonville in 2019 and he brought much-needed pass rush help to the team. This year hasn’t gone perfect for him, as it hasn’t for the entire team, but he’s made a strong effort on defense. While Allen only has seven combined tackles on the year, he also has two sacks (team leader), four hurries, six knockdowns, and 12 pressures. He’s certainly been a major disruptor in the pocket.

Josh Jones was a surprising contributor for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Josh Jones

Safety Josh Jones is tied at ninth in solo tackles in the league with 39 and also leads the team in the same category. He hasn’t done well defending the pass, as he’s allowed a 90% completion percentage thus far but he’s remained a big factor for the Jaguars secondary.

Coming into the season, Jones’ potential role on the Jaguars defense was fairly unknown. But in training camp he quickly emerged as the starting safety.
