6 Texans defenders that can hang Jacksonville Jaguars seventh loss
The Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver corps will have a tough matchup.
Cornerback Vernon Hargreaves III was a first-round pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2016’s players’ selection process. After not performing up to their expectations, the ‘Bucs’ released the Florida standout in the middle of the 2019 season. The Texans then signed him and cut him this offseason.
However, the Texans signed Hargreaves once again before the 2020 season started and he has been solid at cornerback. He’s started all seven games this year and has allowed 28 receptions in 46 targets, good for a 60.9 completion rate. Moreover, he’s recorded 27 total tackles and four pass deflections.
Bradley Roby is the Texans’ best cornerback. Originally a first-round pick by the Denver Broncos in 2014, the Ohio State product left Mile High after five years. He finished his tenure with the Broncos with seven interceptions, 60 pass deflections, 236 total tackles, and seven forced fumbles.
In Houston, he has amassed three interceptions,13 pass deflections, 67 total tackles, and one forced fumble in a two-year span. He’s started all seven games this year and has become of the leaders in the Texans locker room. Romeo Crennel will look for ways to disguise the team’s coverage and confuse Jaguars rookie quarterback Jake Luton.
