AFC South post-Week 8 report: Jacksonville Jaguars at the bottom
The Jaguars are at the point of tanking.
This week the AFC South had one winning team, one losing team, and two teams on bye. The Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans are fighting for that number one spot in the division. The Houston Texans and Jacksonville Jaguars, on the other hand, are in competition for the number one pick in the draft.
Let’s take a look at how the AFC South looks post-Week 8.
Indianapolis Colts
The Colts beat the Detroit Lions 41-21 in a smashing fashion on Sunday. The first quarter started out slow for Colts but they came back and scored 20 unanswered points in the second quarter. A touchdown by tight end Trey Burton officially sealed the game for Indianapolis and now the team sits at 5-2, second in the division.
The Colts still have five divisional matchups left on the year and each one is going to be crucial for their race to the playoffs.
Tennesee Titans
The Titans lost their second straight game of the season but still manage to sit atop of their division with a record of 5-2. They lost to Steelers last week, a team that now moves forward as the last undefeated team in the league at 7-0. This week they suffered a loss thanks to the Cincinnati Bengals, led by rookie quarterback, Joe Burrow.
Overall, the Titans are in pretty good shape to finish out the season strong. It isn’t going to be easy as six of their last nine games look to be tough match-ups. Thankfully for Tennessee, only two of those six are on the road.
Jacksonville Jaguars still at the bottom despite bye week…
Houston Texans
The Texans are a very talented team but have oddly enough gone 1-6 so far this season. Bill O’Brien was no longer cutting it as head coach and was fired after four games. That following week, with Romeo Crennel as interim head coach, the Texans managed to win their first game of the season against the one and only Jacksonville Jaguars. But since then, the Texans have lost two more games.
At this point, it’s pretty clear that the team is losing its morale and confidence. Hopefully, they find a solution before they drive their players out as the Jaguars did.
Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jaguars are going to come out of bye week with a lot on their mind. This season hasn’t gone the way fans had hoped for and it’s not looking like it’s going to get any better soon. At this point, the Jaguars should rest their best players and take the L. They can use their early draft selections to help rebuild this team and get them to where they need to be.
