Things will get worse before they get better for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Although it’s enticing to highlight the things that have gone well for the Jacksonville Jaguars this season, some recent events are making it difficult. While we should be talking more about the success most of the ‘Jags’ rookie class has had in 2020, we also need to discuss their latest injury news, so let’s get to it.

Jaguars quarterback Gardner Minshew II injured his thumb during the game against the Los Angeles Chargers. He is out with a thumb injury and it’s uncertain whether he will play in the team’s Week 9 matchup against the Houston Texans. Looking back, his struggles this season may have been due to the thumb lesion and once he heals, he could pick up where he left off in 2019.

In the meantime, the team’s brass needs to decide what they want to do in case Minshew can’t play and prepare accordingly. While Minshew’s play on the field hasn’t been optimal, the team wants to make sure they start a player that will give the best chance to beat the Texans.

Head coach Doug Marrone already said that he will ‘think outside the box’ in order to look for ways to improve. If that’s the case, he could give a look at some in-house options or acquire a veteran via trade or free agency.

Marrone is really fired up and wants the Jags to get back to the winning column. He already has two in-house quarterback options, so let’s see what each one of them brings to the table and analyze a couple more that the ‘Jags’ could bring in.
