Jacksonville Jaguars: 3 potential trades to make before deadline

The clock’s ticking for the Jacksonville Jaguars to pull some trades.

The November 3 NFL trade deadline is looming but there is still more than enough time for the Jacksonville Jaguars to improve their roster through this means. Head coach Doug Marrone said in a sitdown with the media that he would ‘think outside the box‘ when looking for ways to improve the team’s performance. If that’s really the case, the team’s brass should consider pulling a trade before the headline, as there is only so much the coaching staff can do with the talent they currently have on the roster.

The ‘Jags’ are near the cellar in most offensive and defensive categories and could benefit from an infusion of talent. Pretty much all position groups but the wide receiver corps have a drought of playmakers so it would make sense to upgrade some units such as the defensive line or their cornerback room. While it could take a while for traded players to acclimatize themselves to their new surroundings and scheme, the move could be worth it down the road.

Keep in mind that in-season trades aren’t that common in the NFL, but they do happen from time to time. This season, we have seen the Dallas Cowboys ship defensive end Everson Griffen to the Detroit Lions in exchange for a conditional sixth-round selection. We also saw the Cincinnati Bengals send defensive end Carlos Dunlap to the Seattle Seahawks. The Jags shouldn’t hesitate to make one and should make a push for any of these three defenders.
