When Marrone made the announcement he was shuffling the offensive line assignments a bit, it didn’t necessarily mean there would be many changes to the starters. But right now, the line is the weakest link of the offensive side of the ball.

And as we talked about many times, the front office did not fortify the line like many thought would be done this offseason. The coaching staff did make changes that should make the front five stronger, but until the unit gets on the field, we really don’t know what will happen yet under George Warhop.

Marrone told the local Media that Will Richardson would move from right guard to left tackle to compete with Cam Robinson. After an average 2019 campaign following an injury in 2018, Robinson is still a question on the left side at the most important position on the line.

That meant A.J. Cann had a clear path at right guard. But the Jaguars did draft Ben Bartch in the fourth round of the draft, which makes for an interesting battle between a veteran who is slightly better than average and a Div. III lineman who looks the part. Only time and practice will tell us the rest of the story.

If Bartch shows he can handle NFL linemen with his huge size, does it mean Cann’s days are numbered?
