Paul Posluszny, Linebacker

His retirement was a shock, and it may have been the first stone to crumble in the depletion of the team’s 2017 defense.

Paul Posluszny was the glue that held the defense together that season and was arguably the most respected man in the locker room. For seven seasons, Posluszny was a tackling machine and played the middle linebacker position like a throwback to the 1970s and early 1980s.

Posluszny made one Pro Bowl appearance while in Jacksonville after spending the first four seasons of his career in Buffalo.

His leadership was part of the reason linebackers Smith and Myles Jack thrived on a defense that was second overall in the NFL. Think of how the linebacker room would look now with Posluszny, Schobert, Jack, and rookie K’Lavon Chaisson.
