There will be plenty of competition this coming season on the Jacksonville Jaguars roster. Here are three position battles to watch.

Things are moving right along for the Jacksonville Jaguars this offseason.

  • Free agents signed and brought in. Check.
  • NFL Draft class assembled. Check.
  • NFL schedule revealed. Check.

Now the team begins its preparation for the 2020 season with a better understanding of who the team faces weekly. With three division games slated within the first five weeks of the season, it could be a case where this team – the one that is not expected to go anywhere after New Year’s – will surprise a few analysts along the way.

Or, it could be a case of “we told you so” with a roster that is much younger and potentially less talented.

With the viral offseason workouts in full gear and the coaching staff making adjustments to both sides of the football, this is a crucial year here in Jacksonville. But then again, when is it not a crucial year for this franchise? No games in London. Questions about the defense. Players may or may not be traded.

As one of my friends who covers this team on the daily said, things will be interesting that’s for sure. Even in bad times, these Jaguars give us things to write about.

Head coach Doug Marrone continues to preach the importance of competition on this roster. With as many new faces in different positions, that’s an understatement. Rookies will have plenty of opportunities to unseat veterans. Competition is what the Jaguars coaching staff hopes will make this team a winner again.

We all know this is a franchise that has been broken and needs help healing. That began the moment the regular season ended last year. And with many position battles to be had in training camp, here are three worth watching this summer for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
