With the ninth pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars select…

Who will be the Jacksonville Jaguars first selection in FanSided.com’s NFL mock draft? The pick may surprise a few fans in North Florida.
Ok, I’ll admit it. I went slightly rogue with my first pick as the Jacksonville Jaguars GM in the FanSided.com NFL Mock Draft.
With the ninth pick in the NFL Draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars select Mekhi Becton, offensive tackle, Louisville.
The crowd is either loving this pick or wondering what screws fell out of my head. Actually, it’s a solid pick given the top three players I had ranked above Becton on the Jaguars draft board – Isaiah Simmons, Jeffrey Okudah and Derrick Brown – had all be taken before the big offensive lineman.
I knew I wanted to come away with an offensive tackle with one of the two picks the Jacksonville Jaguars had in the first round, thanks to the trade with the Los Angeles Rams that sent Jalen Ramsey to the left coast and rid the organization of a huge headache. While Ramsey was a great talent, the problems that existed between the Pro Bowl cornerback and the front office were too big to resolve.
The Jaguars came out with a nice ransom for their troubles.
Becton gives the Jaguars a big body who can work his way into the left side of the line, replacing current left tackle Cam Robinson. The jury is still out on Robinson, who missed the majority of the 2018 season with a torn ACL and was average at best last season while it looked like he was still recovering from the injury.
As Lance Zierlein of NFL.com wrote, there is plenty to like about Becton after his solid performance at the NFL Combine in February.
"“Becton’s combination of movement and force should allow him to fit easily into all running schemes, but he needs to play with better patience in order to control and redirect all that mass into centered blocks in both run and pass,” Zierlein explains.More from Jaguars DraftJacksonville Jaguars fortify secondary in 4-round 2023 Post-Combine NFL Mock DraftThe Jaguars may look for edge rushers with pick 24The Jacksonville Jaguars got so lucky with the 2021 NFL DraftJaguars fortify OL with Jaelyn Duncan in CBS Sports’ 2023 NFL Mock DraftJacksonville Jaguars don’t need to trade up in the 2023 NFL Draft to land a cornerback“His technique and set-up are better than expected in pass pro, while his size and length allow him to recover and redirect both inside and outside rushes. With all really big prospects, weight and quickness will be concerns, but Becton’s areas of concern are correctable or manageable if he’s disciplined enough to prioritize them.”"
Becton is one of four left tackles who could hear their names called in the first 15 picks in two weeks. And at 6’7″ and 364 pounds, he has the size and speed (5.1 seconds in the 40-yard dash) to become the second-best player the Jacksonville Jaguars have had at left tackle besides Tony Boselli.
Also, with the selection of Becton, the coaching staff now has options.
Robinson now becomes a candidate to move inside to guard where he either replaces Andrew Norwell on the left side or can shift over to the right side, where A.J. Cann and Will Richardson shared the guard position most of the season.
The third-year pro out of Alabama, who was taken in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft, could also become a swing tackle to add depth if needed in case of an injury.
