Javon Kinlaw, DT, South Carolina

First of all, I think Javon Kinlaw really is part of the Jaguars’ plans should other players be taken off the board before the ninth pick.

The defensive tackle would solve an immediate need for the Jaguars as they need help stuffing the run. It’s a belief that Derrick Brown is the team’s first choice, and would fall back to Kinlaw if he was available. In a perfect world because of the NFL’s love of quarterbacks, both players will be available for the Jaguars to choose from.

I can also see a scenario where both Carolina in Arizona fall in love with Brown and may move up to draft him.

At 6-foot-6 and 310 pounds, there is a lot to like about his frame and power at the point of attack. Another situation would be that the Jaguars are able to get Brown at nine and should Kinlaw start to fall, then maybe the front office does it’s best to move up in draft him as well.

Two defensive tackles in the first round would help re-establish the front seven and have two stellar players the Jaguars haven’t had since John Henderson and Marcus Stroud.
