Dede Westbrook

It has not been brought up yet, but the question will be raised whether Dede Westbrook is worthy of a contract extension. After last season, I might have agreed he deserves a new deal, but now it’s a matter of having a strong 2020 campaign.

In 2018, Westbrook, the fourth-round draft pick in 2017, has a miraculous season with 66 catches and 717 yards with poor quarterback play. This season, he had another 66 catches in an injury-riddled season that also saw him fall to third on the depth chart.

A lot of Westbrook’s success in 2020 will have to do with the new offensive coordinator on staff and who will be under center – either Gardner Minshew or Nick Foles – and how the passing game will look against the run.

There is no doubt in my mind Westbrook could become the second option again in the Jaguars passing game behind Chark, who had 1,000 yards in receptions this season.

If Westbrook catches 65-70 passes and can stay healthy, the Jaguars should sign him to an extension.
