Jaguars: Doug Marrone says there are no changes at quarterback or staff
By David Levin
Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone said he has not made any changes to his staff or at the quarterback position.
The teleconference with Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone on Monday didn’t change any of the narrative from last night’s comments regarding quarterback Nick Foles. When asked about the decision to stick with the veteran signal-caller, Marrone reiterated he felt it was the right decision based on which quarterback gives the team the best chance to win.
When asked, he also said he treats the quarterback position like every other one on the team, and if there was a player on the roster whom he thought would give the team a better chance to win on Sunday, he would make a change.
It’s a topic that is going to be talked about up until the start of the game this Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as Foles, who was signed this offseason to an $88-million deal over four year, has not looked sharp in his first two starts after spending nine games on the injured reserve list with a broken clavicle.

Marrone and his team are under fire this week from the local and national media following a 42—20 loss to the Tennessee Titans that all but sunk the team’s playoff hopes. Six plays in the third quarter resulted in 28 points for the Jaguars’ AFC South rival and extended the lead to 35-3.
There was speculation a change could be made with the coaching staff as early as today after three sub-par performances where the Jaguars have had issues moving the football and stopping the run. Marrone, in his post-game comments on Sunday, acknowledged the situation with the team is something everyone in the organization is dealing with and the players and coaching staff have to find a way to get past it and win games as the season winds down.
"“At the end of the day, we have got so many people committed to it, we have got so many things going, but that’s our job. We have got to figure it out with the guys that we have. You have got to keep trying, that’s how I was raised,” he said.“Whether people like it or not, you just keep going. You keep fighting, you keep trying. I don’t know any other way to put it.”"
It’s the same kind of mentality the coaching staff will take into this week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a team that presents a different kind of challenge with speed on the outside and a solid passing game.
For now, the focus is still to get better as a football team.
"“We are going to back and look again and probably to find something else, because obviously what we have been doing hasn’t worked. We have got to get that done.” he explained."
In other news: The Jaguars have announced they have Jaguars have signed fifth-year defensive tackle Carl Davis to the active roster and waived first-year wide receiver C.J. Board. Davis, who played college football at Iowa, has appeared in 34 career games, most recently in one with the Indianapolis Colts.
