Taven Bryan – Defensive Tackle

The story of Taven Bryan’s progression this season is something that a lot of people are failing to recognize. Is he a Pro Bowl tackle? No, not yet at least. Has he gotten better since last season? He has gotten a ton better.

He is a serviceable tackle and this week he is going to be a key player due to an injury to Marcell Dareus. Bryan is being given a shot to shed the label of bust and find his way into the good graces of Jaguars fans. His teammate Abry Jones talked about his progress when speaking with the media recently stating:

"For all the people out there who think they know so much about football who keep talking about my man Taven … if you don’t see the progress this year, then you really haven’t been watching football."

Stopping the run game is going to be a key part of the game for the Jaguars against the Jets. If they are forced to throw the ball then they will struggle. If we shut down the running lanes and score on them early then Jacksonville should come out of this game victorious. Bryan is going to be a big part of shutting down that running game especially on plays up the middle.

PredictionI think that Jacksonville is going to need to hold Bell under 80 yards rushing. I think Bryan might not get the big stats but he has to take on blocks and I think he will get at least one tackle for loss this week.
