The Jacksonville Jaguars have announced the signing of offensive lineman Leonard Wester on Thursday. The former Buccaneer adds more depth up front.

The more bodies the Jacksonville Jaguars add to the offensive line, the less likely I think they are to grab a right tackle in the NFL Draft. The team announced it has added Leonard Wester to the mix from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Wester becomes the fifth offensive lineman the team has signed in free agency since March 13.

"According to John Oehser of Jaguars.com, “Wester (6-feet-6, 305 pounds), who originally signed with the Buccaneers as a collegiate free agent from Missouri Western following the 2016 NFL Draft, played in 27 games in three seasons with Tampa Bay. He played in all 16 games this past season. Wester caught a two-yard touchdown pass in 2017 after lining up as a “jumbo” tight end.”"

More from Jaguars Free Agency

The front office could still take the best offensive lineman available with the seventh pick in the Draft. According to 1010XL AM and 92.5 FM radio here in Jacksonville, officials met with Florida’s Jawaan Taylor for a second time on Wednesday. Both the player and team talked at the NFL Combine in February.

Jacksonville needs to show improvement on an offensive line that was decimated by injuries last season. Four of the five starters from Week 1 of the 2018 season are back with the franchise after guard A.J. Cann signed a new deal on the first day of free agency. Both Tyler Shatley and Josh Wells signed within the last week.

The Jaguars also brought in right tackle Cedric Ogbuehi from Cincinnati to compete for a starting job.

"Per Oehser, Wester’s signing is the Jaguars’ 12th since free agency began on the March 13 start of the 2019 NFL League Year."

Just because the team has added depth at positions of major need, it does not mean the team won’t try to add more pieces to their offensive puzzle in the Draft. Several mocks have the team grabbing either Taylor or Iowa tight end T.J. Hockenson if the Jaguars decide on strengthening the offensive side of the ball.

In Black and Teal’s most recent mock draft, our writers were split on who the team should draft between Taylor and Hockenson.

"“The Jaguars since March 13 also have signed as free agents quarterback Nick Foles (Philadelphia), running backs Alfred Blue (Houston) and Benny Cunningham (Chicago), wide receiver Chris Conley (Kansas City), tight end Geoff Swaim (Dallas) and linebacker Jake Ryan (Green Bay) in addition to re-signing tight end James O’Shaughnessy,” Oehser added."
