In shocking fashion, the Jacksonville Jaguars absolutely dominated the previously undefeated Baltimore Ravens in London on both sides of the ball.

The Jacksonville Jaguars might be the Dr. Jekyll of the national football league, as they’ve looked like two completely different teams over the course of three weeks. After laying the smack down on the Houston Texans in week 1, the Jaguars looked like a mess in their home opener against the Tennessee Titans last week.

Today, the Jaguars looked even better than they did in week 1, with the offense looking just as good as the defense in perhaps the most complete game we’ve seen the team play in several years in a 44-7 rout of the Baltimore Ravens.

It’s hard to say what sparks the Jaguars to play so well on both sides of the ball, but there are theories…

Here are some quick notes from the Jaguars London beatdown of the Ravens:

  • Where to start. How about the quarterback, as Blake Bortles deserves a ton of credit for this win. Blake was sharp all day, and his four touchdown passes were all beautiful throws. Offensive coordinator Nate Hackett put more on Bortles in this week’s gameplan and it worked terrifically. Bortles gained a ton of confidence early on with a gorgeous pass down the sideline to Marqise Lee and he never looked back. As much flack as Bortles gets, he was the offense today and he deserves the game ball. If Blake can play like this for an appreciable part of the season, the Jaguars will absolutely make the playoffs.
  • A very brief shout out to Marcedes Lewis, who matched his 2014-2016 production in one game with three touchdowns. Lewis looked spry and utilized his size to catch one of those fade passes that used to frustrate Jags fans on a weekly basis. Kudos to him for stepping up when the offense called his number today.
  • As sharp and productive as Bortles was today, Joe Flacco was basically the complete opposite. He was pressured often, and when he did manage to get the ball out of his hands it was either a checkdown or an errant pass down the field. He never got into a groove and a big reason why was the play of the entire Jacksonville defense…
  • The defense we saw in week 1 at Houston was back and perhaps even better. The secondary completely blanketed the Ravens’ skill players and the Jacksonville linebackers were running sideline to sideline to keep all the short passes ahead of them.
  • This game was a point for all those who claim the Jaguars have the best cornerback duo in the NFL, as Jalen Ramsey and A.J. Bouye both had outstanding individual plays on their interceptions. Bouye broke up a would be catch and tipped the ball to himself, while Ramsey just made a supremely athletic diving catch on a Flacco throw down the middle of the field.

More on this game as we break it down throughout the week, but a well deserved win for a team that appears to be extremely comfortable in London.
