2) Keenan McCardell (1996-2001)

Keenan McCardells’ Jacksonville Jaguars years were in his prime and were all too short. After playing for the Cleveland Browns for four seasons, McCardell became electric upon joining the Jaguars. Part of the dominant Thunder and Lightning duo with Jimmy Smith, McCardell was nearly unstoppable at times.

All told, in six seasons with the Jaguars, McCardell managed to post 6393 yards and 30 touchdowns while boasting an impressive 5.3 receptions per game and 67.3 yards per game. He did all of this while playing opposite another excellent player at the same position, which is downright impressive in an era where running the ball was still most teams’ first priority.

The only thing keeping McCardell from competing for the top spot on the list of the greatest wide receivers of all-time is that his tenure was too short. Through no fault of his own, the Jags opted to cut him to save money. If he had stayed with the team longer, he could have been the top player on this list. He ultimately played six more seasons for three different teams (Tampa Bay Buccaneers, San Diego Chargers, and Washington Redskins).

McCardell returned to the Jaguars in 2017 as the team’s wide receivers coach, coming full circle in a town where he became a legend.
