Brandon Linder to Switch Back to Guard?
With reports coming out of Brandon Linder moving back to guard, will the Jaguars have a new face at center for the 2017 season?
The Jacksonville Jaguars resumed organized team activities Thursday and there was a lot of interesting information to come out of it. The passing game is showing a lot of improvement, and the offensive line is looking better than ever.
Mike Kaye of First Coast News tweeted Thursday that former center Brandon Linder has been getting a lot of reps at guard during OTA’s.
Linder started his career in Jacksonville playing Guard his first two seasons, which he was decently successful at to say the least. With former center Stephen Wisniewski hitting free agency at the end of the 2015 season, the Jaguars switched Linder over to center in order to fill in at center.
Moving Linder back to guard could prove to be a smart move for the Jaguars. Linder is much more valuable as a guard than he would ever be as a center. The Jaguars could get a lot more productivity with Linder at guard and somebody else like Luke Bowanko at center. This could also be the reason as to why the organization chose not to draft a guard in this years draft.
I really like the move of Linder back to guard. Nobody on the team knows the offensive line like Marrone does, so when it comes to moves like this, I have complete faith in him. Marrone has had a couple of years to work with Linder, and he is going to want to put him somewhere where he can make the biggest impact.
As far as who is in at center, nothing has been reported yet. My guess is that they are going to throw Bowanko back in there. Bowanko was the starting center from a couple of seasons ago where he did a decent job until injuries came along.
