Cam Robinson, the Jacksonville Jaguars’ second-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, has officially signed with the team.

Cam Robinson became the latest draft pick to sign with the Jacksonville Jaguars on May 31st. The second round pick is expected to play left tackle for the Jags, especially after the holdout by Branden Albert.

Robinson instantly improves the left tackle position after years of injury struggles and mediocrity with Luke Joeckel at the position and Kelvin Beachum for one year. The Jags need stalwart play at left tackle in order to protect quarterback Blake Bortles, who has struggled and been the most sacked player in the NFL during two of his three seasons.

More from Black and Teal

Robinson has the ability to be a plug-and-play rookie, which is critical for a Jags team that wants to win immediately. With the offensive line a key concern this offseason and the investment of a first round pick in running back Leonard Fournette, Robinson needs to step up. If he can be a top-notch player and a leader for the team, he will be every bit as valuable as Fournette in turning the Jags offense around.

While we know little at this point because it is still only OTA’s, Robinson could well emerge during training camp and the preseason to give everyone a greater look at his abilities. The expectations are high, but he should be capable of meeting them.
