Jacksonville Jaguars: Which direction will they take at a crossroad?
By Larry Brake
The Jacksonville Jaguars are at a crossroad. The offense is pathetic and the defense is getting worn down. Which direction will Jacksonville move after Thursday night’s debacle?
Some Jacksonville Jaguars fans thought Gus Bradley should have been fired. The addition of free agents Chris Ivory and Malik Jackson were suppose to make them AFC South championship contenders. All hopes for an AFC South championship have all but been crushed. The Jaguars are now facing a difficult crossroad.
Jacksonville can either move forward or prepare for the 2017 season. The direction determines the mindset of the team. The Jaguars will either reap the benefits or feel the heat as a result of their choice of direction.
Offensive Coordinator Greg Olson became the sacrificial lamb on Saturday. Why did Bradley abruptly changed his mind? Obviously Jaguars owner Shad Khan put pressure on Bradley to make the move. This makes you wonder why Jacksonville fired Olson now instead of after the Oakland game.
Nathaniel Hackett was promoted from quarterbacks coach to offensive coordinator. He served in the same capacity at Buffalo and at Syracuse University. Most noteworthy, current Offensive Line coach, Doug Marrone was the head coach in both places.
Seems like more moves are in the works for Jacksonville. Is it possible that Jacksonville is going to become the 2014 Buffalo Bills? Why did Marrone opt out of his Bills contract? He landed as the assistant head coach/offensive line coach in Jacksonville.
Jacksonville is at a crossroad; which road will they take?
All signs, of which direction the Jaguars move, are becoming clear after Khan attended a team meeting, this past week. There is going to be another change but how soon will it be?
The signing of Marrone went under the radar for most Jaguar fans. Most people thought Marrone would land his next head coaching job after leaving Buffalo. Maybe he did!
