With the pressure to catch up in the division mounting, the Jacksonville Jaguars travel to Chicago today to take on the Bears in a virtual must-win game.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are at in a less than enviable position heading into week 6 of the 2016 regular season. Despite coming off a divisional win against the Indianapolis Colts and a bye week, the Jaguars sit in last place of the AFC South with little to hang their hat on. The defense has flashed at times thanks to stellar play from some young players, but the team overall has been inconsistent in almost every facet.

More from Jacksonville Jaguars News

Head coach Gus Bradley is fighting for his job at this point and the only outcome likely to keep him employed after this season is playoff contention. If the Jaguars hope to have any credible shot at the postseason, they need to win today against a milquetoast Bears team. To do that, quarterback Blake Bortles needs to play like he did during stretches of the 2015 season – connecting on deep passes down the field and forcing opposing defenses to respect the entire field.

Defensively, head coach Gus Bradley needs to show something he really hasn’t during his entire tenure – that he can devise a solid and effective gameplan over the bye week. It’s not asking too much to expect an NFL coaching staff to scheme up something to take down one of the worst teams in the league with an extra week of preparation. The Jaguars should be past the point of suffering another embarrassing loss at the hands of Brian Hoyer.
