Jalen Ramsey may just be a rookie for the Jacksonville Jaguars but he’s ready to play and willing to dare one of the best NFL QBs to take him on.

The Jacksonville Jaguars were wise to pick Jalen Ramsey with the fifth pick of the 2016 NFL Draft. He brings great versatility and immediately improves the talent of the secondary.

He also brings some much needed aggression and bravado to the Jags defense. For a unit that has been historically bad the last three seasons, the only way forward is to improve. Ramsey is ready to lead that charge.

It doesn’t get more bold than daring Aaron Rodgers to throw your way. Even the best cornerbacks in the NFL are forgiven if they are a little nervous about facing Rodgers’ hyper-accurate arm. But Ramsey isn’t shying away, sending a message to Rodgers, saying, “I’m not scared. Throw my way if you want to.” (per ESPN)

That’s the kind of bravado that isn’t always wise as an unproven rookie. But man is it nice to see someone with bravado speaking his mind for the Jaguars defense.

As Kevin Patra writes at NFL.com, “That’s the exact mentality with which any corner, rookie or otherwise, should enter each week.” Too often, however, the Jags defenses of the recent past have played scared and played sloppy. They haven’t looked like the kind of players that can stare down the best quarterbacks in the business and actually come out on top.

Ramsey changes all of that. He’s ready to play and lead the Jaguars to victory through strong play. He’s ready to compete to be rookie of the year and he’s ready to face the Rodgers crucible awaiting him in his regular season Jaguars debut.
