Allen Robinson 74th best player in ESPN #NFLRank
By Daniel Lago
Allen Robinson ended up being one of the highest rated players in the NFL Network Top 100 list, but he didn’t make it quite as high according to ESPN.
If you’ve been watching the Jacksonville Jaguars at all this preseason, you’ve probably noticed wide receiver Allen Robinson. After a breakout season in 2015, the third year wideout looks even better and is making the legion of analysts who are predicting his statistical regression rethink their logic.
Robinson was the top rated Jaguar (31 overall) on the NFL Top 100 list this summer, continuing a trend of unusual hype towards numerous Jaguars. Robinson is arguably a top 5 receiver in the league, but it’s still shocking to see a Jaguar ranked anywhere near the top in a list like that considering the team’s performance over the last decade.

Allen Robinson didn’t rank
quite as high in ESPN’s version of the rankings
, landing at number 74.
"74. Allen Robinson, WR, JaguarsAvg. rating: 82.13 | 2015 rank: NRRobinson made the Pro Bowl last season after catching 80 passes for 1,400 yards and a franchise-record 14 touchdowns. Yet he approached the offseason as if he was on the roster bubble. He concentrated on becoming a better route runner, especially on shorter and intermediate routes. He’s a phenomenal athlete (40-inch vertical leap) with great hands who wants to be known as more than just someone who thrives on back-shoulder catches and 50-50 balls. Those will still be big parts of his game, but he is quickly becoming a more complete receiver. “He’s unbelievable,” quarterback Blake Bortles said. “He has a mind and a motor that doesn’t stop, and even though he put up good numbers last year, he is going to continue to work his tail off and wants to be better each and every year.” — Mike DiRocco"
In this list, Robinson falls below Larry Fitzgerald, Brandon Marshall, and Demaryius Thomas. The first two appear to be benefitting a little bit from a lifetime achievement award, and Thomas is likely still carrying quite a bit of karma from his 3+ uber-productive seasons with Peyton Manning. Heading into 2016, I don’t think there are many general managers who would take those 3 players over Allen Robinson. Expect him to be much higher on this list next year.
