Jacksonville Jaguars Look to Win Early
The Jacksonville Jaguars finally have a chance to win early in the 2016 season.
With the 2016 season fast approaching this year’s Jacksonville Jaguars have a chance to break a eight year steak and be the first team since 2007 to have a winning record headed into week five of the NFL season.
Not to knock the last three years of Gus Bradley’s regime but recent additions to the team have made the team feel stable. No longer is the roster is filled with young developing players. Instead experienced free agents and young stars have emerged to take their place. With this influx of talent the jaguars look to take advantage of this in the form of wins early on this season.
Now I might be a bit of an optimist but I believe with games against the Green Bay Packers, San Diego Chargers, Baltimore Ravens, and Indianapolis Colts in the first four weeks the team can carry a winning record into its bye during week 5.

The last time a jaguar’s team was above .500 so early in the season was in 2007 when the team went 3-1. I believe this year’s team can match the record and break the eight year streak of having a losing record so early in the season. The Jaguars toughest challenge will come in week 1 against the packers and being able to secure a win should put the team in a good position to capitalize against the chargers and ravens. Division games are always tricky and I predict the first loss against the colts, ultimately matching the 2007 team at 3-1.
The AFC south was won at 9-7 last year and with twelve games left starting 3-1 would put the jaguars in a good position to lead the division. Another advantage of capitalizing on early season wins is that it would help the team secure a chance at a playoff berth, something that has also been missing since ’07.
Overall the 2016 season won’t be defined by whether or not the jaguars break this little bit of history but getting off to a fast start will only bode well for the rest of the 2016 season.
