2016 NFL Draft: Jacksonville Jaguars select Tyrone Holmes
By Daniel Lago
The Jacksonville Jaguars are dead set on improving their pass rush, as they added yet another defensive end in the 6th round.
Jacksonville Jaguars fans were livid after the team missed out on Olivier Vernon in free agency, griping about a statement general manager David Caldwell made earlier in the offseason about the team having an “influx of pass rushers” over the course of the following months.
Well, Caldwell has been true to his word, adding yet another edge rusher in the form of Tyrone Holmes out of Montana.
Expectations will be low for a 6th round pick, but Holmes tested extremely well and could develop into a nice situational pass rusher.

Here’s a quick scouting report
from Steve Meunch of ESPN.com:
"Holmes is an undersized defensive end with shorter arms and there are concerns about the level of competition he faced on a weekly basis at Montana. However, he tested extremely well at his pro day and he has the potential to develop into a disruptive edge rusher."
This is exactly the type of player to take late in the draft – a raw prospect with the tools and measurables to develop into a rotational piece and possibly a starter one day. Tyrone led the FCS with 18 sacks and that’s exactly the type of dominance you look for when scouting a player in a lower level of competition. He may never be a double-digit sack guy in the NFL, but there’s a decent chance he can contribute in spot duty at some point in his career.
To be quite frank, Holmes doesn’t have to do much this year to be considered more productive than former Jaguar LEOs Chris Clemons and Andre Branch.
Paired with third round pick Yannick Ngaoue, Holmes provides some options behind true “rookie” Dante Fowler Jr. along the edge.
