The Jacksonville Jaguars are an improving team, but one of the most well rounded?

Ike Taylor had some high praise for the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday, April 4th, calling the team the most well rounded in the NFL. While others like Gil Brandt, Bucky Brooks, Maurice Jones-Drew, and Charley Casserly were picking playoff teams like the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots, Taylor’s response stuck out.

Here’s what he had to say in NFL.com’s instant debate:

"Although the Jaguars have a young team, they are very well-rounded heading into the 2016 campaign. Bringing in Chris Ivory was a very smart move for this team. With Ivory and T.J. Yeldon splitting carries in the backfield, a productive ground game should take some of the pressure off Blake Bortles, which will hopefully cut down on turnovers. Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns are the brightest receiving duo in the league and give Bortles a lot of options in the passing game.Defensively, the Jaguars are headed in the right direction after signing Malik Jackson and Prince Amukamara. They are getting back to the recipe that worked on both sides of the ball in the mid-2000s. This team is about to get a lot better."

You can’t argue with the logic, especially surrounding the offense and recent player acquisition. But the Jacksonville Jaguars are not living in a bubble. They are an improving team, yes, but as they become more well rounded, they are not necessarily the most well rounded.

The Jags have serious defensive deficiencies that have been addressed partly through free agency. If the Jags continue to build well through the 2016 NFL Draft, they could come away with a much more well rounded team than 2015, but one of the best in the NFL seems like a stretch.

The Jags will take compliments where they can get them, especially after another sub-.500 season. They need to put it together on the field, however, if they want to truly prove they’re well rounded.
