Sheldon Day is an intriguing option to keep an eye on in the Senior Bowl.

The much anticipated Senior Bowl is now only two days away and Gus Bradley will need to capitalize on his time to observe some of the most talented players in this years draft class. Coach Bradley will likely be closely monitoring any stand out defensive players considering that was the clear weakness of last years Jaguars team. Over the past two days we have highlighted two defensive players that the Jags could be interested in selecting and with so many defensive gyms in this years draft why not continue the trend? Next up on the list of Senior Bowl players to watch is the Notre Dame standout defensive tackle, Sheldon Day.

Sheldon Day is slightly undersized for his position but thats what makes him so unique. The 6’2 285 pound defensive tackle is very quick off the snap and he is very disruptive in the backfield. He finished his college career with 141 tackles, 32.0 tackles for a loss and 7.5 sacks, he is also the number one defensive tackle in the draft according to Pro Football Focus.

Here is what Dane Brugler of CBS sports had to say about the Notre Dame defensive tackle:

"COMPARES TO: Aaron Donald, Rams — He’s not on the same level as Donald as a prospect, but Day fits the similar mold, projecting best as a three-technique in a four-man front."

Being compared to Aaron Donald shows the potential that Sheldon Day has, however he has dealt some injuries so his stability could be in question. If it were up to me, I would really consider taking a look at Sheldon Day. He has the talent of someone that could be drafted in the first round but with teams unsure if he can stay healthy, he will probably slide to the third or fourth round. Day could be a huge value pick for the Jaguars with his ability to rush the passer from the interior.

Next: Should the Jaguars go after offensive lineman in free agency?

We will have to wait until draft day to find out if Jacksonville wants to select Sheldon Day but I would not be surprised if the Jags go after him if he is still available in the third or fourth round.

Be on the lookout for another Senior Bowl player to watch, coming tomorrow.
