3. It’s easy to forget to the Texans had the first overall pick last year. Has Jadeveon Clowney made a big impact so far in 2015?
"No. Plain and simple, he has been invisible. In fact, the only highlight you see of him is when he gets blocked. I had someone ask me a while ago about if their team should fear Clowney and I said absolutely not. Wait until he shows something, because right now he has roughly ten tackles and zero sacks in his career. I understand he has been injured, but he didn’t look explosive before the injury last year either."
My take:
This is a real shame, but I’m glad the Texans passed on Bortles and let him slide down to the Jaguars in the 2014 draft. It’s not fair to pin the “bust” label due to injuries, but Clowney hasn’t really produced at all. It’s still very early and he certainly can start putting together some big plays here and there, but it’s hard to see him ever living up to the lofty expectations of being the first overall pick.
