3) Ryan Mallett, quarterback, Houston Texans
The “other” Houston Texans quarterback, Ryan Mallett’s potential was on display in Week 1 during the loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Finishing 8/13 (61.5%) for 98 yards with one touchdown, Mallett’s day ended with a 110.4 quarterback rating.
Of the three lower quarterbacks, I was most impressed by Mallett. He showed promise that would be pleasant for the Texans to capitalize on, especially once running back Arian Foster gets back in the mix.
I think that Mallett definitely showed enough warrant further looks with the Texans. With Hoyer benched during the game against the Chiefs, we may finally get a chance to see what Mallett can do.
