Our first round 2015 Jaguars draft preview wasn’t too far off the mark and with the second and third rounds coming up quickly, we’ll turn our attention to what the Jacksonville Jaguars may do tonight.

For this second and third round 2015 Jaguars draft preview, we’re going to highlight what the Jaguars may do with both their picks, addressing needs and value instead of addressing the individual rounds separately. I’m choosing this method of analysis because general manager Dave Caldwell is a bit unpredictable and likes to go get who he wants when he wants so the Jaguars’ draft picks may end up shifting. For us Jags fans, that’s a good thing. The Jaguars can always improve and Caldwell is constantly on the hunt for what may make the Jaguars better and he isn’t afraid of pulling the trigger. You need only look at Blake Bortles in round one of the 2014 NFL Draft to see that.

The Jaguars still have plenty of needs as they head into rounds two and three. Chief among them are free safety, linebacker, running back, wide receiver, and we can never forget offensive line. If that sounds like almost half of the positions on the football field, that’s because the Jaguars still need a lot of help.

Based on the players who are still available after day one, I would expect the following options to line up well for the Jaguars.

1) Wide Receiver

The 2015 NFL Draft is full of wide receivers and many of them could have gone in the first round last night. With five wide receivers already off the board, don’t be fooled into thinking that there aren’t many big talents left. Guys like Dorial Green-Beckham, Jaelen Strong, and Devin Smith as still available. The former two are incredibly gifted athletes and could come in and be excellent targets for Blake Bortles immediately.

I’m a little hesitant to say the Jaguars need to get a wide receiver in round two, but it seems like the perfect marriage of value and need position-wise right now. The Jaguars have a strong trio of young receivers who are entering their second season in 2015 but beyond them they are short on talent. If Marqise Lee and Allen Robinson struggle with injury again then the Jags will be incredibly short at wide receiver. Bringing in another young option who can bolster he corps for the coming years would be a wise move. I lean toward the bigger Green-Beckham who can use his 6’5″ to help bail out his young quarterback and present a massive target in the red zone.
