Jacksonville Jaguars
Quarter Record: 0-4
Player to Highlight: Blake Bortles, 54% completions, 476 yards, three touchdowns, four interceptions
The Jaguars are a pretty open mess. The league’s defense can’t stop teams from amassing 40+ points per game while the offense struggles to accumulate even 14 points per game. The running game is completely missing, the offensive line is setting records for sacks allowed, and the defensive secondary is getting beat over the top whenever the opposition feels like going deep. This gem from FOX sports sums it up well: “The Jaguars have allowed 152 points this season—the most that any team has given up through four games in the last 53 years.” If the Raiders somehow manage to right the ship then the Jaguars will definitively be the worst team in the league.
Things are looking up for the Jaguars largely because rookie quarterback Blake Bortles has managed to look impressive despite the world falling apart around him. He has some young, talented receiving options to throw to, but there are growing pains there while Bortles continues to take his lumps. It’s too much to expect the Jaguars to string together many wins this year based on just how poorly the team has been overall through four games. The team seems to be “practicing” for 2015.
