Jacksonville Jaguars Fantasy Value Picks: Allen Robinson
By Luke Sims
Allen Robinson Fantasy Football sleeper pick? You better believe it. The Jacksonville Jaguars’ rookie wide receiver is developing nicely into a consistent target for new starting quarterback and fellow rookie Blake Bortles. The first and second round picks seemed to have some chemistry when Bortles was on the field and Robinson had slowly been coming into his own over the first three games.
Will Robinson be a must start over the next few weeks? Not likely. But if you are hit hard by injuries on your fantasy team and need some insurance, then Robinson could really be your guy.
Speaking of injuries, the rest of the Jaguars receiving corps is pretty banged up. Allen Hurns, Cecil Shorts, and Marqise Lee have all struggled with injuries out of the gate and don’t present very viable options due to their potential availability. Hurns has been hitting out of the park on occasion (three TDs so far) but he Robinson is looking like the better option.
The stats back it up as well.
Robinson is the most target Jacksonville receiver and he has the most catches. He has 12 catches off 19 targets for a total of 154 yards. his reception total jumped by seven in last week’s game against the Indianapolis Colts, especially with Bortles in for Chad Henne in the second half. He seven receptions on 10 targets for 79 yards. He hasn’t gotten into the endzone yet, but if the targets keep coming his way then he’ll likely get in there in the near future.
You’ll want him on your team if he does, because it may be the beginning of a regular thing.
Now I’m not saying that Bortles to Robinson is going to be the next Peyton Manning to Reggie Wayne or Tom Brady to Randy Moss (yet) but if you have the need for a receiver and you’re looking at the available free agents, Robinson is someone you should look at he. He really is a value pick and he has a lot of potential reward if Bortles manages to take off.
