The final score of Sunday’s game between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Indianapolis Colts (it was 44-17 by the way) couldn’t matter any less, because the real story is the beginning of the Blake Bortles era. After quite possibly the worst half in the history of the franchise, head coach Gus Bradley finally made the much needed switch to the rookie quarterback. Chad Henne failed to do anything positive on offense during the first half, and the Jaguars defense could no nothing to slow down Andrew Luck and the Colts on offense.
Bortles had a few highlight plays and ultimately showed he should be and should have been the starter from day 1. Bortles finished the day 14-24 for 223 yards with 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. His stats came during garbage time, but he showed the ability to do a lot of things that Chad Henne could not. Bortles looked athletic, decisive, and, most importantly, willing to throw the ball down the field. It’s been a long time, but it’s finally going to be exciting to watch the offense take the field. When Marcedes Lewis and Marqise Lee come back from injury, this offense could take a huge step forward.
Here is a roundup of the highlights and reactions to Bortles’ debut via Twitter.

Looks like a safety, but NO!. Illegal contact on the Colts. Nothing bad can happen when Bortles is on the field.

Bortles loves the fake spike play. Touchdown to @CecilShortsIII and that's 2 td and 2 int for the rookie in the 2nd half.
