Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Washington Redskins: Friday Fact or Fiction

facebooktwitterreddit

The Jacksonville Jaguars lost their week 1 game to the Philadelphia Eagles in heartbreaking fashion, but they need to recover quickly as they travel to Washington and face Robert Griffin III and the Redskins. Chad Henne is still starting at quarterback, but there are still plenty of things to get excited about on both sides of the ball. With that in mind, let’s move on to my rock solid predictions.

Denard Robinson will get at least 10 touches: FACT

The Jacksonville Jaguars could not get the running game going last week, and a lot of the blame has to fall on the offensive line. Toby Gerhart’s injury wasn’t ideal, but the more interesting development in last week’s game was the number of touches Jordan Todman got. Despite looking significantly better than Todman, Robinson didn’t get the call at tailback after Gerhart’s injury. I expect Jedd Fisch to get Robinson more involved in the both aspects of the offense this week.

Robert Griffin III will throw for a touchdown: FACT

The Jacksonville Jaguars did a good job keeping Nick Foles in check during the first half last week, but there were still too many times where receivers were streaking wide open down the field. The loss of Johnathan Cyprien doesn’t help, and the Redskins talented receiving corps should be able to find some holes deep in the secondary. Expect RGIII to get a long touchdown at some point, especially if Chris Prosinski is on the field.

Allen Hurns Will Have 100 yards receiving: FICTION

This isn’t a knock on Allen Hurns, it’s more confidence in second round pick Allen Robinson getting more looks and getting more comfortable. Hurns was the main target for Chad Henne in week 1, but expect the ball to get spread around a little more to Robinson, Marqise Lee, and Mike Brown.

If Blake Bortles was the starting quarterback for the Jaguars, I would be picking them to win by a comfortable margin. Still, I think the Jaguars are good enough on both sides of the ball to beat the Redskins with Chad Henne. Expect a low scoring game.

PREDICTION: Jaguars 17 – Redskins 13
