When David Caldwell took over as general manager after the disastrous 2012 season, the Jacksonville Jaguars had arguably the worst roster in the NFL. With upgrades needed at almost every position, most thought the Jaguars were at least 3 years away from competing for a playoff spot.

As we head into year 2 of Caldwell’s rebuild, there’s reason to believe the Jaguars might not have to wait until 2015 to taste the postseason. Optimism is abound thanks to first round pick Blake Bortles and his outstanding preseason performance. The hope of a franchise quarterback and the promise illustrated by the team’s 4-4 finish to the 2013 season are reason enough to be excited about the Jaguars in 2014.
