Five Guys I’d love to see drafted as a Jaguar

Last year I published a 5 guys list and did pretty well. I asked to Jaguars to get at least one of the following: DeAndre Hopkins (WR), Luke Joeckel (T), Eddy Lacy (RB), DJ Flucker (T) and Travis Fredrick (C).

That group did pretty well as whole.  This year I thought we would go a bit deeper in the draft and help out in the later rounds.  If any of these guys are in training camp, I am very happy:

Aaron Murray QB   Georgia .  I remember Aaron Murray battling LSU and Zack Mettenberger down to the wire. Aaron was as mentally tough as they come in not wanting to lose that game. He was torching Auburn until the miracle that propelled Auburn into the national Championship game. When the Senior Bowl came around, Aaron couldn’t play but he went anyway and sat with our coaches. He was in every meeting trying to learn. I know they liked him because Gus went to his pro day.  Watch Jon Gruden talk about Aaron Murray.

Donte Moncrief   WR   Mississippi. No one talks about Donte but I believe everyone has him on their boards. Donte was a top performer in the combine for 40 yard dash (WR 3rd 4.4), Vertical leap (WR 3rd 39.5”) and Broad jump (WR 1st 11’). This shows the power and explosiveness of his legs. His speed makes him a downfield threat and his leaping a red zone weapon. Donte, in my opinion, was lacking coaching. Put him in the Gus pressure cooker with Jerry Sullivan mentoring him and watch out.  Check out his highlights.

Brandon Thomas   OG/OT   Clemson. We need to improve the offensive line and we will go shopping in the middle rounds. This is a guy I think we will look at. Clemson had some very high profile games this year and when they played well, they were a top team. They handled both Georgia to start the season and Ohio State to close out the season. Brandon faced down Jadaveon Clowney and held his own.  Check out his video against Jadaveon, Brandon is #63. He is like Donte Moncrief, he needs a bit of coaching up, but has all the tools.

Devin Street   WR   Pittsburgh.  Devin is Pittsburgh’s all time receiver. He isn’t track speed fast and he isn’t big. At 6’3” and 190 lbs, he will need to bulk up. Why I want to see him as a Jaguar is his hands are so strong and he is fearless going over the middle.  If Devin can bulk up, he can develop into a nice #2 receiver. We need receivers!  Watch his video and see if you agree.

Ja’Wuan James   OT   Tennessee.  Ja’Wuan is simply a very good offensive lineman. He played the right tackle position for Tennessee as showed great promise in pass blocking and run blocking. He is a big guy, a nice guy and a smart guy. Watch this video and see if you agree. I would love to see him drafted by Dave Caldwell.
