2014 NFL Mock Draft – Post Super Bowl Edition

With the 2013 NFL Season finally coming to a close, the internet can turn it’s full attention to the 2014 NFL Draft. The Jacksonville Jaguars have a few ways they could go about making their selection with the third overall pick, and owner Shad Khan’s recent comments make it seem like a certainty that the Jaguars will heavily consider a quarterback in the first round.

Most mock drafts around the web are probably going to stick to quarterback for the Jaguars for the foreseeable future, and Erik Lambert over at NFL Mocks is no different. He recently did a mock draft with projected trades, and after he has the Texans and Browns taking Blake Bortles and Johnny Manziel respectively, here’s what he has Jacksonville doing.

"#3 – Jacksonville Jaguars – Teddy Bridgewater – QB – LouisvilleOwnership let the cat out of the bag but it was always clear the Jacksonville Jaguars had to take a quarterback.  With Bortles and Manziel off the board, Teddy Bridgewater out of Louisville is the next name up.  While his thinner-than-preferred frame and somewhat enigmatic competitiveness are under question the young man is skilled, polished and a proven winner over the past two seasons in college."

I have to think general manager David Caldwell will be sprinting to the podium in this scenario. I still believe Teddy Bridgewater is a tier above the other quarterback prospects and is the best bet to be the guy. His physical traits aren’t as impressive as Bortles’, and he doesn’t flash the same way Manziel does, but Bridgewater is by far the most advanced of the quarterbacks above the shoulders and the kind of veteran poise he shows in the pocket for a player his age can’t forgotten. At the end of the day, I can’t imagine any way the Jaguars pass on Bridgewater if they have a chance to get him.
