Jacksonville Jaguars Power Rankings – On the Board

The Jacksonville Jaguars finally got their first win of the season on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans on the strength of a terrific defensive performance. The defensive backfield in particular played well, but apparently middle linebacker Paul Posluszny performed well enough to earn the AFC Defensive Player of the Week award.

The Jaguars weren’t the only team to crack the win column for the first time as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers also managed to upset the Miami Dolphins on Monday night. The argument for the worst team in the league is still a two-team race.

Let’s see how the Jaguars fared in the power rankings after an unexpected victory.

ESPN

"32. Jacksonville is on the board! The Jaguars forced four turnovers, their most in a game since Week 14 of 2011, and got head coach Gus Bradley his first career victory."

CBS Sports

"32. They have to feel good about winning, but it could hurt in the long run. Not that any of the guys on this roster care."

NFL.com

"32. Congrats to the Jags, who got coach Gus Bradley his first victory the old-fashioned way: by winning the turnover battle. Jacksonville forced four of them, and 17 of their 29 points came off those takeaways. This, of course, is how Bradley intended to win in the first place. With the offense missing the suspended Justin Blackmon, the defense will have to be the instigator if this Jacksonville team is to put two to three wins together this season. But before we look ahead, let’s rejoice in this W. Don’t know about you, but we were growing weary of the Jaguars sucking every week."

SBNation

"32. If the ’72 Dolphins crack open the champagne every season when the last undefeated team loses, do the 2008 Lions guzzle antifreeze whenever the last winless team notches a victory to avoid joining them in permanent Pigskin Purgatory? On Sunday, we learned that if a team loses four turnovers AND its starting QB, the Jags are capable of securing a two-point win. That’s not enough to lift them out of the Power Rankings basement, but it’s a start. (Last Week: 32)"
