Friday Fact or Fiction – San Diego Chargers vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

facebooktwitterreddit

The Jacksonville Jaguars have their best chance to win so far this season when they host the San Diego Chargers in week 7. With the Chargers travelling across the country after a Monday night win, the Jaguars should be able to capitalize on a tired San Diego squad. They’ll still have to do their best to slow down a rejuvenated Philip Rivers, who’s been much improved over last year’s disastrous season.

Here are a few rock solid predictions for Sunday’s contest in Everbank:

Justin Blackmon will have 120+ yards and a touchdown: FACT

Justin Blackmon has been an absolute beast since his return and the work he put into trimming his body this offseason is showing. Blackmon looks lean, quick, and strong in the slot and has been the most targeted receiver over the last two weeks. The Chargers have an awful secondary and Henne should be looking in Blackmon’s direction all game.

Oct 6, 2013; St. Louis, MO, USA; St. Louis Rams quarterback Sam Bradford (8) is tackled by Jacksonville Jaguars defensive tackle Sen

Sen’Derrick Marks will have a sack: FACT

Marks has been hands-down the most effective pass rusher on the Jaguar defense and he should be able to get some pressure on the interior line of the Chargers. Marks has 10 QB hurries so far this season and has been a constant presence in the opposing backfield.

Philip Rivers will throw for 300+ yards : FICTION

The Jacksonville Jaguars’ secondary showed a lot of improvement against the most efficient offense in the NFL last week. They held Peyton Manning to his worst performance of the season and even managed to return an interception for a touchdown. Philip Rivers has been great his season, but the young Jacksonville secondary is improving every week and should continue to do so.

The Jaguars will keep this game close and make it interesting all the way to the end, but I still don’t trust Chad Henne enough to predict a win.

Prediction:   Chargers 23 – Jaguars 17
