And there you have it. The Jaguars have traded Eugene Monroe. You think the Browns are the only that can play the “Punt” game? Nope. I wrote an article a few months back titled 3 Bold Predictions, and in that article I predicted this would happen. I don’t mean to toot my own horn, but, HONK HONK. I’m only being cocky because I think one of the negative comments was “we aren’t trading Monroe that would be beyond stupid”! Well we’re beyond it. I can see stupid in the rear view.
Now, let me get off my soap box. The trade was genius and only solidifies my faith in the new regime. I only wish and thought we’d get more for him. But hey, a bevy of 4 – 7 rd picks will only help to rebuild. (i.e. taking Clowney #1 then using these picks to get back into the first rd for say Mariota? Just thinking out loud). It’s a win win for both sides. That being said, let’s look at what it means for your/my fantasy team.
It’s a blow to every skill position on the Jaguars roster. MJD was struggling as it is. Losing the best player on your line will only make grinding out the 2 -3 yarders even harder. If you can, sell sell sell. I love MJD as a player, and gun for him every draft I can. But come on now, you don’t punt away your fantasy season. Do you? The only other relevant players you should have on your team would be Shorts or Blackmon. And if you think Gabbert struggled before, wait till you see him without Monroe. And barring health, Gabbert will continue to start. Him losing games now will only help us win games in the future. Why do think they haven’t picked up Tebow or gave Henne the nod?
