Jacksonville Jaguars Training Camp – Preseason Week 1 Day 2
By Daniel Lago

After releasing two players yesterday, the Jaguars filled up a back-end roster spot with veteran offensive lineman Pat Mcquistan. He will probably have his most reps with the second and third team and has an outside shot of making it on the final roster.
McQuistan, 30, has played in 72 games (11 starts). #Jaguars roster now at 89 players.

Jaguars throw newly signed Pat McQuistan in at LG with 2nd-team offense. Looks like he replaces Jason Spitz

Not much changed from yesterday injury-wise as Jonathan Cyprien, Justin Forsett, and Justin Blackmon were all held out of practice drills. Cecil Shorts also remained out as a precaution with a calf strain.

Switching it up from yesterday, Chad Henne got reps with the first team to start practice with Gabbert relegated to the second team.

Matt Scott continued to get a lot of work with the third team, but he came out of the gate with an interception.

The team also began experimenting with Andre Branch in a more hybrid role at linebacker to try to get him involved. Reports are he has been less than impressive in camp thus far and tends to disappear.

Ace Sanders continues to make plays in practice and he will almost assuredly lock down the slot receiver job if he carries over his performance into the preseason games.

Both quarterbacks got into a rhythm during practice, but the defenses weren’t going at full speed. Regardless, it’s nice to see both Gabbert and Henne taking advantage when the coaches give them a chance to make plays.
Henne good in his first series of final period. Gabbert on his first series of 1111 Throws Deep to massaquoi for td.

On defense, some of the holdovers from the Gene Smith era are playing relatively well.
Safety Dwight Lowery continues to hold off rookie Josh Evans and linebacker Brandon Marshall is playing well after being cut and resigned multiple times last year. Guards Uche Nwaneri and Will Rackley have also avoided headlines with solid play in camp so far.
#Jaguars S @LoweryDLo with a tipped INT.

Head coach Gus Bradley has maintained the integrity of competition at almost every position. In addition to splitting reps with the QBs, Bradley is giving younger players some time with the ones and twos over veterans.
Gus said Gabbert and Henne will split first team snaps in Wed practice. #jaguars
