Training Camp 2013 – Day 6
By Daniel Lago
6 days into training camp, the Jacksonville Jaguars are finally starting to get physical in the trenches. Only John Oehser of Jaguars.com can state it so eloquently.
Quarterback Blaine Gabbert wanted to fully participate in practice yesterday despite an ankle injury, and today he came out with both ankles taped.
Tight end Marcedes Lewis and guard Uche Nwaneri got the obligatory day off for veterans and key players – Justin Blackmon and Jonathan Cyprien – stayed on the sideline recovering from injuries.
There were also national media members at practice today, some who think Gabbert has the advantage in the quarterback competition.
And of course with the introduction of contact comes the occasional fight breaking out.
As he did yesterday, Chad Henne ran out with the starters first in 11-on-11 drills, but Matt Scott got the call with the second team first today instead of Gabbert or Kafka.
Gabbert did however get some reps in 7-on-7 and 5-on-5 drills before being thrown into 11-on-11 with the first team. The coaches are clearly being cautious with him and are in no rush to get him back into full drills.

Gabbert also helped in one of the stranger plays in camp so far with a rare Cecil Shorts mistake and Chris Prosinski doing something right.
It might have been the rain or maybe they were just satisfied but the coaches decided to end practice early.
