In the last installment of their NFL Mock Draft coverage, Fansided.com has given the Jaguars their own highlight. The subject of that highlight is Oregon defensive end/outside linebacker Dion Jordan. Jordan is often mocked to the Jaguars so it makes sense that Fansided got on the bandwagon just in time for the draft.
Here’s what writer Josh Sanchez had to say about the pick:
"Jacksonville needs pass rushing help and there is no pass rusher in this year’s draft class with more upside than Jordan. Not only can Jordan rush the pass, he has the ability to line up in the slot and drop back in coverage.Jordan is a player that can come in from day one and immediately play the LEO position at a high level. There is the possibility that Jacksonville could look to trade out of the position or look to draft the best offensive tackle available, but the most likely scenario is the Jaguars will go with one of the biggest play makers on the defensive side of the ball. If Jacksonville wants to pull a fast one and shock the world with their pick, you can never rule out quarterback Geno Smith."
The chance that the Jaguars select quarterback Geno Smith appears smaller and smaller with each passing day so that really would be a shock at this point. While Jordan is in no way a lock to the Jaguars at number two, he seems the most likely pick at this point. We’ll obviously be much wiser tonight after the first round concludes.
