Where’s Scobee? Jags Sign Kicker Coutu

Josh Scobee is still in long contract negotiations with the Jacksonville Jaguars.  As a result, the Jags are without a kicker for Organized Team Activities (OTAs) which start Tuesday.  Enter Brandon Coutu.

Coutu was drafted in the seventh round of the 2008 draft, didn’t play in 2009 and 2010, and was on the Jags’ practice squad for all of one week before being signed by the Bills last season for the final week of the season.

Here’s his stat line: XPA: 3 XPM: 3 FGA: 1 FGM: 0

The Jags had been working out Long Ding and Jay Wooten but have ultimately signed a player who doesn’t appear to be wanted by anybody.  No offense to Coutu, but it just looks like he’s a very mediocre placeholder while the Jags work on getting Scobee on the field.

In order to sign Coutu, the Jags waived CB Dontrell Johnson.
