Lehigh LT Will Rackley, The Draft Study
High School
I apologize for the lack of a real link, but for now, we use Wikipedia and Wikipedia informs us that Rackley attended Riverdale High School in Riverdale, Georgia. At Riverdale, Rackley earned first-team all honors for his offensive line play. The surprising part is that Rackley also earned second-team all honors for his defensive line play. Current Jaguars guard Uche Nwaneri also played the D-line.
These universities recruited him: Lehigh Univeristy, Colgate University, Lafayette College and Georgia Tech. Why did he not go to a bigger school?
According to his biography on Lehigh’s sports page, he went to Lehigh because of “it’s sports dominance and academic dominance.”
You won’t be the first if you ask, “What dominance?” in reference to Lehigh. I guess it’s a proportional thing. Although it did, after all, help him get to the NFL.
Here’s what he had to say about being at Lehigh:
"“It means that I will always have a leadership role amongst all my classmates and my actions will always be reflected upon my coaching staff and team.”"
Those are words you generally only hear from a stand-up, high quality guy.
So, how was he at Lehigh? Was he worth a pick this high?
