Zoltan’s Preseason closing thoughts – Trouble – he sees trouble!
By Zoltan Paksa
Now; a few words about the roster moves made today: D’Anthony Smith and John Estes went to IR. Estes’s case is sad; many -including me- saw him as the potential backup for Brad Meester. It seems Uche Nwaneri is the backup C. I don’t know how good that is if we count his problems being focused all the time (which is a job requirement at this position)…But with Estes out, I think if Gene wants to keep Smiley and Manuwai then he can do it. It seems, by the way, Vince Manuwai won the starting RG job which is something I wanted to see happen. The bad news, in my opinion, is that Reggie Nelson is winning the FS starting job. Quite frankly that alone shows how bad the situation is. I see nothing special in his play. In fact I saw more of the same player. Let’s hope Gene can trade or get a real FS this week when the final cuts will be made because I’m absolutely uncomfortable with this move- if it’s true (and because I read that expectation from Gene Frenette; we can take that almost granted). The game against Atlanta might be able to change that. I hoping for a very impressive performance by Gerald Alexander on that game…
So all I want is an AVERAGE defense to go with this explosive offense!
